The Wisconsin Fire & EMS Memorial Honor Guard
“To Honor, To Remember, and To Protect the Legacy.”
The Wisconsin Fire & EMS Memorial (WFEM) Honor Guard serves as the ceremonial heart of our Memorial Park in Wisconsin Rapids. Composed of dedicated volunteers from across the state, the Honor Guard is the living embodiment of our commitment to never forget the sacrifices made by Wisconsin’s first responders.

Our Mission
The primary mission of the WFEM Honor Guard is to provide the highest level of dignity, respect, and floral honors to fallen firefighters and EMS providers. We serve as the guardians of the Memorial, ensuring that every ceremony, from the annual Final Alarm to the placement of a new Legacy Stone, is conducted with unwavering precision and solemnity.
What We Do
The Honor Guard is a multi-jurisdictional team that represents the unified front of Wisconsin’s emergency services. Our duties include:
The Final Alarm Ceremony:
Serving as the primary ceremonial unit during our annual statewide memorial service to honor those added to the Wall of Honor.
Color Guard Presentation:
Posting the colors at significant fire and EMS events, conferences, and commemorative gatherings across Wisconsin.
Casket Guards & Pallbearers:
Providing a presence of strength and support for the families of the fallen during line-of-duty death (LODD) services.
The Tolling of the Bell:
Executing the traditional "Five-Five-Five" bell signal, signifying a comrade's final return to quarters.
The Uniform of Respect
When you see the WFEM Honor Guard, you are seeing the history of the fire and EMS service. From the polished brass to the rhythmic cadence of the march, every element of our appearance and movement is designed to deflect attention away from the individual and place it entirely on the fallen hero we are there to honor.
